Thousands are waking up in the dark this morning. Strong winds wreaked havoc across Virginia last night.  Dominion Virginia Power crews are working to restore service to almost a third of their Richmond area customers. Last night’s storms left more than 170-thousand customers without service as strong winds knocked threes onto power lines. Power crews were dispatched to many areas where downed lines still had power but were arcing across he tree limbs and cars.

Now, authorities are trying to assess the damages from last night’s wind storm. Tree and power lines were snapped by winds in access of 70 miles per hour last night. Police were dispatched to several scenes during the storm. Also, some areas reported flooded roads. At last check nobody was seriously injured.
