A Potential Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump Debate Before June 7th
It is no secret that Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders wants to debate GOP candidate Donald Trump. Jimmy Kimmel of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” asked Senator Sanders to submit a question to Trump during last night’s show. Sanders’ said he wants to debate the GOP candidate before the California June 7th primary. Trump said he would debate Sanders if he takes advertising dollars from the debate and give it to charity. Seconds later, Sanders tweeted, “game on.”
However, Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton has declined a debate request from Fox News prior to the June 7th debate. Why a decline? A new report from the State Department says Clinton’s email practices did not comply with the agency’s policies, but were not illegal. Clinton used a personal email account and a private server as Secretary of State. State Department spokesman Mark Toner noted that Clinton has said she should would not make the same choice again. The report also cites longstanding, systemic weaknesses with records that go well beyond the tenure of any one official.
