While Virginia Union University students seek removal of the university president he gets approval to take a break. VUU President Dr. Claude G. Perkins is going on a one-year sabbatical that will extend to the end of his contract July of 2017, the university announced Monday.. While the historical university praised Dr. Perkins for his work in improving facilities and programs, hundreds of students have signed a petition condemning conditions at the school and claiming the president has mismanaged funds and instituted “irrational” new policies. The petition was created two weeks ago and easily picked up 250 supporters. Since then, less than 100 signatures have been added to the petition.
