A three-judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals of Richmond has ruled in favor of a transgender teen student’s request to use the restroom of choice at school referring to Title IX. Gloucester County officials have said that Gaven Grimm cannot use the boys’ bathroom at his high school. Grim was born a female but identifies as a male. Parents complained and school officials reacted with student policy. However, the policy was shut down for discrimination. Grim has the option to sue the Gloucester County School Board for discrimination.

Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination based on sex.
