Chicago police are looking into a shooting on Thursday that may have been captured on video, the Chicago Tribune reports.
A police source told the Tribune that the video appears to show details consistent with the actual shooting at the same location, in which a man sustained gunshot wounds to the face and groin.
In the graphic video, an unidentified man appears to record himself walking. He talks jokingly about the nearby convenience store being open, so he would have someplace to “duck and hide for cover.”
Suddenly, gunfire is heard and the cell phone drops, facing toward the sky. After a short pause, someone firing a gun multiple times with outstretched arms appears briefly before another pause, and a woman begins wailing in the background.
It appeared Thursday on social media.
The New York Daily News talked with a Chicago police spokesman who declined to address the video, but he confirmed that a 31-year-old man was shot in the same neighborhood on Thursday. He was a known gang member.
