The internet can’t stop talking about Adrienne Bailon‘s new love interest.
And this could be for many reasons. By now, you’ve probably heard that The Real host was spotted getting extra cozy with gospel singer Israel Houghton down in Mexico. When the first pictures of the two surfaced on social media, users couldn’t help but comment on the obvious age difference between them, and other aspects of their surprising union.
So, who exactly is this guy? And what’s all the to-do about his supposed relationship with Adrienne? Here’s everything you need to know.
According to TMZ, Adrienne started dating Israel after his divorce became final earlier this year. The 44-year-old, pictured above with his ex-wife, has revealed that his infidelity was to blame for the end of his marriage. However, in a lengthy post on Facebook, the “Friend of God” singer shot down whispers that Adrienne had anything to do with his divorce.
He wrote: “My marriage had been over for quite some time before going public with my divorce announcement. It seems to be simple math that I had not even met Adrienne during the time my marriage was falling apart.”
Old photos of Adrienne and Israel have since been dug up, including the one below from her 30th birthday celebration.
Adrienne even appeared in the film I’m In Love With A Church Girl, which Israel produced. Here they are celebrating its release together in 2013:
In another ironic twist, Israel publicly congratulated Adrienne on her engagement to ex-fiancé Lenny Santiago. Still, he insists their relationship remained platonic until “very recently.”
“Our circles connected & we remained good friends. From a friendship, as two single adults we have very recently begun to explore a dating relationship,” he wrote.
He further went on to praise her: “Adrienne is a woman of integrity & character… Most of all she is a true friend, and she should not be blamed for my past indiscretions.”
