Cuba Gooding Jr. Defends Airing N-Word On American Crime Story
On the latest episode of American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, the character of F. Lee Bailey questions Mark Furman multiple times in court on the use of the n-word. Some viewers were offended by the word being said so many times but Cuba Gooding Jr. defended the use by stating to People:
“Our job as artists is to reflect the ills of society sometimes and to find a truth in that, and I think you can’t start the healing process until you recognize the truth and all of its ugly warts and all.”
Below is that actual F. Lee Bailey/Mark Furman footage from the O.J. murder trial
