Miss Community’s “I Am Richmond Report” For February 1, 2016

I am Miss Community Clooovia and my intentions is to always keep it community with the latest happenings out there in the “I AM RICHMOND REPORT.” The Virginia Senate passes two LGBT bills that would protect gay and transgender individuals seeking employment in local and state government. Also, protection against housing discrimination. The Virginia General Assembly is in session through March.
A three-judge panel heard arguments in the Third District Congressional Maps and ruled that it was unconstitutional. Now, the U.S. Supreme Court has a hearing date set for March 21st. The argument is the current maps are diluting the voting power in the Third District.
A Richmond Police officer is recovery from a gun shot wound to the leg following a foot chase. The suspect is in custody.
Dr. Dana T. Bedden will discuss his 293-million spending plan which is expected to be voting on tonight at 9.
