Neyo is just one of the superstars cast in NBC’s The Wiz Live! He joins Queen Latifah, David Alan Grier, Mary J. Blige, Elijah Kelly, Common, Uzo Aduba, Amber P. Riley and newcomer, Shaniece Wilson in the live three-hour production.
He talks to the Tom Joyner Morning Show about performing live, the original song the cast will be performing and if we’ll see any cell phones in the modernized production.
“I’ve been performing live for 12 years at this point. But now, I’ve got to depend on other people. It’s the level of talent that is in this thing. it’s very much a family situation and we’re all working together for the same goal,” he said.
How modernized will the show be?

“People are going to be pleasantly surprised. This is not the Wiz from the 70’s. It’s the Wiz 2015. It’s the story that you know and love, they found a way to add some nuances to make it current.”
