22 years and over 10 million records sold, Kirk Franklin is back with his first album in four years.

The nine-time Grammy award winner talks to the Tom Joyner Morning Show about what ‘Losing My Religion’ means and why he apologized to the gay community on behalf of the black church in light of the Supreme Court ruling of same-sex marriage and the ever popular yet controversial scenes in Empire.

The gay community and the black church:

“People have to understand, the Bible does show whether is homosexuality or fornication, it’s a sin. It aslo says that about pride, hate, arrogance and vanity. It also talks about grace and mercy. And it talks about the cross and that there’s room for all of us. The Bible is not a book created to beat up  gay people. That’s what we do. It seems like there is an agenda. We are to walk as humble as we can as we walk through life with people.”

What ‘Losing My Religion’ means:

“People never feel God’s love. We’re so busy beating up people with rules and systems. But if we were that good, there would be no reason for God to send his son to die for us. Religion stands on the side of the lake to tell you what to do, God sent his son to jump in the lake to save you.”

Losing My Religion is in stores everywhere.
