La’Darious Wylie, 11, is being buried today after being killed by a car that crashed into a school bus stop on Oct. 27 in Chester, SC.
According to local news station WBTV, Wylie was trying to save his sister, seven-year-old Sha’Vonta, as the car veered off the road. Wylie died at a nearby hospital the following day from the injuries he sustained in the accident.

There is currently a temporary memorial at the spot where Wylie was killed. The bus stop is in walking distance of his family’s home.
The Herald reports that his mother, Elizabeth McCrorey has had Wylie’s organs donated for other children suffering from illnesses and injuries.

The driver, 57-year-old Michelle Johnson, is currently out on bail after posting a $25,000 bond. Johnson has been charged with a felony hit-and-run that lead to death. Johnson may serve 25 years in jail if convicted.
Felicia Mobley, the boy’s aunt, says to WBTV that the family is coping with his death as best as they can.
“We just dealing with it on a daily basis because when it’s a tragedy like this—we just have to deal with it day by day.”
