Emmy Award winning actress Regina King talks to the Tom Joyner Morning Show about her new hit HBO show, The Leftovers.

Taking place three years after what is called the “Sudden Departure”, a global event that caused the unexplainable disappearance of 140 million people, The Leftovers introduces Regina as Erika Murphy, a doctor who runs an urgent-care facility in Texas.

What to expect on season two of The Leftovers:

“They changed the location in season two. The main family wanted to get away so they packed up and moved to Texas and that’s where my family, The Murphy’s, come into play.”

Winning her first Emmy this year:

“It was  a great night for all of us as a whole…for black people, black women. For the committee that recognized those that have been doing it for a while.”

So what’s next for the veteran actress?

“I’m working on American Crime, season two. And I just wrapped The Leftovers season two. When I finish here I’ll go back to direct another episode of Scandal and Shonda Rhimes’ new show, The Catch.”

The Leftovers airs on Sunday at 9pm.
