The UCI Road World Championships will start at Kings Dominion in Doswell, Va at 1:00 p.m. and will finish at the intersection of Fifth and Broad streets in downtown Richmond around 3:35 p.m. Expect road closures in Hanover, Caroline and Henrico counties started at 11 this morning. Henrico County Schools are closed today for the ‘worlds.’

From the Henrico Division of Police:

Road closures for the UCI Road World Championships on Wednesday, September 23 will begin at 11:00 a.m. and be completed by noon before the Elite Men’s Individual Time Trial starts at 1:00 p.m. The race starts at Kings Dominion and finishes at the intersection of Fifth and Broad streets downtown. The race is projected to end at 3:35 p.m. with roads reopening around 4:35 p.m.

Areas significantly impacted by road closures include Route 301 in Hanover, Caroline and Henrico counties, the Richmond International Raceway (RIR) area, East Laburnum, Northside and downtown.

Residents are reminded that towing is being enforced in areas posted with no parking signs. Street closures will also change day-to-day as different races occur. Residents are encouraged to check the Navigate Richmond 2015 website regularly to stay up to date on the traffic impacts for each day.
