McDonald’s Media Alert:

On Friday, September 18, McDonald’s restaurants in the Greater Richmond area will be celebrating Back to School season and will be offering a free breakfast to kindergarten through eighth grade students from 6:00am to 9:00am. All students must be accompanied by an adult when visiting a Greater Richmond area McDonald’s restaurant. One meal will be given per child present at the counter. All students must be accompanied by an adult and the offer is valid inside the restaurants, not in the Drive-Thru.

McDonald’s will give an Egg McMuffin®, Apples Slices and choice of Milk or Apple Juice for Free Breakfast Day. The signature Egg McMuffin® features a freshly cracked Grade A egg with extra lean Canadian style bacon and a slice of American cheese, held together by a freshly toasted English muffin.

“McDonald’s Family Restaurants of Greater Richmond are excited to be celebrating a new school year and providing a ‘Free Breakfast Day for Students’ on Friday, September 18th,” said Dave Traub, McDonald’s Owner/Operator and President of the McDonald’s Family of Greater Richmond. “McDonald’s is strongly committed to the well-being of children and look forward to providing local students with a free breakfast featuring our iconic Egg McMuffin before they go to school.”

“Research shows that breakfast not only plays an important role in a healthy body weight, but can help children keep focused in class,” said Jade Mineo, a Registered Dietitian. “McDonald’s has broadened their menu to provide breakfast items which include; whole grains, egg whites, fruit, yogurt, and low fat dairy options. I encourage students – accompanied by an adult – to take part in Free Breakfast Day and start their day with breakfast at McDonalds.”
