Known as the “Chairman of the Boards” NBA Hall of Famer Moses Malone is dead at the age of 60.

Petersburg, Virginia, the NBA and sports lovers are mourning the loss of three-time NBA-MVP, Malone died of an apparent heart attack in his sleep last Sunday. Malone was in Norfolk, Virginia to play in a celebrity Golf Tournament. He was found in a hotel room unresponsive and not breathing at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver says the NBA is stunned by the sudden passing of Hall of Fame center Moses Malone. In a statement following Malone’s death on Sunday, he called Malone “an NBA legend gone far too soon.” Silver went on to say that three MVPs and an NBA championship, Malone was one of the most dominant centers ever to play the game. Silver also mentioned that the league will miss Malone’s friendship, generosity, exuberant personality, and the extraordinary work ethic he brough to the game throughout his 21-year pro career.
