Veteran actor and rapper Ice Cube is the producer for the movie Straight Outta Compton about his group, NWA. The story chronicles when five young men translated their experiences growing up into brutally honest music that rebelled against abusive authority, they gave an explosive voice to a silenced generation.

The film premieres today and he talked to the Tom Joyner Morning Show about his son, O’Shea Jackson, Jr. portrayal of him in the film and of course the rumored rift between he and Suge Knight.

“I’m so proud of him. I’m more excited for him than the story about my former group. As a parent you just want your kids to stand up in the moment of truth and he did that.”

What the late Eazy E would be doing today:

“I think Eazy, his wheel was always turning. Right before he died he took Bone thugs and Harmony to the top. Now it would probably be something with the tech world.”

Suge Knight’s portrayal:

“These are the things we kinda researched. Some people were there. We try to be as accurate as possible.”
