You may already know Tank as a talented singer, but now you can see him regularly as an actor playing the role of Donovan on TV One’s new scripted comedy series, Born Again Virgin, premiering tomorrow, August 5th. It’s been described as the Black “Sex And The City” in some places. Danielle Nicolet plays Jenna, who’s decided to become the ‘born-again virgin’ of the title in order to redirect her life. Eva Marceille and Meagan Holder also star.

“Donovan is a lawyer and he’s trying to kill the virgin movement. Soon as she tries to lock it up, he appears at her door with a key. That is meant for sharing,” Tank laughs. “She’s somebody who’s trying to take control of her life. She’s trying to save it. Her body count is pretty high. She was knocking them down at a high rate and her not being able to control her sexuality is the reason why things are not going right in her life.”

Tank says they’re still shooting the show and TV One is excited about it.

“It’s something totally different. Especially in the space where we are where everyone is promoting sex. On Instagram, every guy and girl is ‘Look at my bikini,’ Look at my butt cheeks’ ‘Look at all of this’ and here we come with a show that says it’s OK to abstain.”

Tank says the show has an all-female writing staff, a rarity in TV.

“We’re doing some cool things over here,” he says.
