Oscar winner Marisa Tomei is the latest star to join the hit Fox drama, which became a cultural sensation in its first season. Empire‘s writers acknowledged her arrival Thursday with a friendly tweet: “Welcome to #Empire, @marisatomei!” The network confirmed the casting.
Alicia Keys, Chris Rock and Lenny Kravitz also have signed on to appear in Season 2 of Empire, which follows Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), his ex-wife, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), and their family music business. The second season starts Sept. 23.
