Everyone knows that having a tight band is an essential ingredient for a successful late night television show — just look at Jimmy Fallon and The Roots. Now, new Late Show host Stephen Colbert has recruited jazz musician Jon Batiste to be his band leader. The 28-year-old New Orleans-bred pianist has worked with everyone from Wynton Marsalis to Lenny Kravitz. Two years ago, he was named the artistic director for the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. Batiste is taking the place of Paul Shaffer, who was David Letterman’s bandleader for more than 30 years. Read more.


OWN Pulls Show About Father With 34 Kids

When Jay Williams, a father of 34 kids by 17 different women appeared on Iyanla Fix My Life, he created a social media frenzy. The OWN network thought it would be a good idea to give him his own reality show to follow his journey, but according to reports, they decided to not move forward with it in the middle of filming. “OWN has decided not to move forward with the Jay Williams docu-series. The series aimed to follow Jay as he worked to put his life and fractured relationships in order and to hold him accountable every step of the way,” said the network in a statement. “The intention was to help Jay work to establish new connections with his family, his children and the mothers of his children. San Francisco 49er Anthony Davis to Take a Break from Football

Although there are injuries that come with every sport, in the game of football, players take a lot of blows to the head that put both their health and life in danger. In many cases, players have to end their careers early for their well-being. Anthony Davis, the 25-year-old offensive tackle for the San Francisco 49ers, announced last week that he would be taking a break from football to give his brain and body a chance to heal. “After a few years of thought, I’ve decided it will be best for me to take a year or so away from the NFL. This will be a time for me to allow my Brain and Body a chance to heal,” he said. “Your Life is Your dream and you have the power to control that dream.
