Producers of the hit show “American Idol” have announced that next season will be the last season for the “American Idol” series.
The highest ratings for the show came while the hit show “Empire” was airing immediately afterwards, but once “Empire” season finished, Idol’s ratings went into a tragic free fall.
Execs state: “We really wanted to do it in a way that felt special and celebratory,” he explained, adding that they never really considered moving it back to summer. “The right way to send this show out is … in the time period it’s had for the last few years.”
The show will finish with 15 seasons and ratings that have gradually fallen off every year.
