aessa balloonRICHMOND, Va., (RADIO ONE KISS FM): The Mid Atlantic Balloon Festival was supposed to kick off its inaugural event at Meadow Event Park in Doswell for the Mother’s Day Weekend, but has now been cancelled due to a balloon crash Friday evening.

According to the Virginia State Police, two of several hot air balloons landed safety after take off Friday evening, a third one started to make its approach at a designated landing zone,  apparently struck a power line caught fire. The pilot tried unsuccessfully to put out the fire because additional heat causes a balloon to rise.  Virginia State Police announced at a press conference that the two of the passengers in the balloon that crashed have been found and that the recovery search is still on for the third body.
