It’s a boy! Alphonso and Kimberly Jones-Booker were the proud parents of Alexander Lance Booker who was born on a cold day December 18, 1994. “Lil Alex” was such a joy to his parents, family and his godmother Clovia Lawrence. He was a fun loving kid and was actually my practice child if I were to ever consider having children. Alex spent his summers with me from the age of four until his death on JUNE 15, 2007. I received word that Alex, my baby, was dead on Saturday morning at 2 a.m. just 8-days before the start of summer camp and hours before I hit the stage for the Stone Soul Music and Food Festival.

Alex was fluent in speaking French, a smart student, loved football and NASCAR or simply fast cars. On June 15, he met new friends who challenged him to play on a construction site because there were ATV’s and they could take a ride. Alex was excited, runs to the construction site, gets hurt and his friends ran off. Alex, my godson, was let to die in the dirt alone.

Radio One Richmond listeners and followers, please support the 7th Annual “Send-A-Kid” to camp radiothon on May 1, 2014 from 8 a.m to 7 p.m. on 99.3/105.7 Kiss Fm, Praise 104.7 Fm and iPower 92.1. Radio One personalities will play what you say on the radio at iPower 92.1 Fm and 99.3/105.7 Kiss Fm for a $25 or more donation. I want kids off of the streets and into a safe environment with Richmond Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities. The Great Escape camps will run June 23-August 22 at 13 RVA locations.

All donations are tax deductable and will help pay for city children to have an exciting and educational summer camp experience. In return, callers will have the satisfaction of knowing that they have made a difference in the life of a Richmond child.

Our family could not save Alex but we can keep other kids safe. Miss Community Clooovia
