Jameis Winston, the 19-year-old Florida State redshirt freshman quarterback, was named the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner in a New York City last night.
Winston is the youngest to win the most prestigious award in college and he won in a landslide victory. In an emotional acceptance speech, he reiterated his “trust in the process.” Though he did not mention it, on Dec. 5 2013, the legal process cleared Winston of an alleged sexual assault from 2012 which almost destroyed his National Championship dreams and his coveted Heisman win.
Winston also stated:
“This Heisman isn’t just for Jameis Winston, this is for Florida State. I love everybody in here. I’m so blessed right now. It means so much to me. But I got one thing to say: At Florida State, if we gonna do it then, we do it big then.”
