The CIAA honored VSU Coach Latrell Scott by naming him Coach of the Week following Virginia State’s division-clinching win at Chowan, while Trojan RB Jordan Anderson was named CIAA Player of the Week after he rushed for 160 yards and three TDs in the shut-out. VSU claimed the CIAA’s Northern Division Football title for 2013 on Saturday and clinched a berth in the CIAA Championship Game on Saturday, November 16th in Winston-Salem, NC. It will be the Trojans’ first appearance in the CIAA title game since the league expanded and divided into two divisions. Certainly, the fans of Virginia State are excited about the team’s success, but will not look past arch rival Virginia Union.

Virginia State will close out the regular season this Saturday at Roger’s Stadium against their oldest and dearest rival, the Panthers of Virginia Union University. There is so much history in the rivalry that truly you can “throw the records out the window” when these two get together. The Trojans will then head for Carolina to try and win their first CIAA title since 1996 when CIAA Hall Of Fame Coach Lou Anderson led the Men of Troy>
