Monday, October 7, 2013 is day-7 in the partial federal government shutdown. Congress it still holding the American people hostage. However, most of the furloughed civilian workers at Fort Lee, Virginia are heading back to work today. A recall was directed by Department of Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.  Secretary Hagel said the Pay Our Military Act permits the Pentagon to eliminate such furloughs.

Although most workers are being recalled to work, Fort Lee advises those working for non-Army DoD entities should check with their group on when to report back to work, reports WTVR.

Nearly 5,000 Department of Defense Fort Lee civilian workers have been furloughed since October 1.
