The 2013 NFL season got underway on Thursday night with the defending world champion Baltimore Ravens battling Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.  What was scheduled as an NFL football game quickly turned into the Peyton Manning Show as the Broncos QB fired 7 touchdown passes in a 48 – 24 rout of the champs in the Mile High City.  The Ravens obviously scratching their heads after such a miserable performance coming off a Super Bowl season.

In New York, big surprise, rookie Geno Smith will start on Sunday for the Jets, replacing the team’s starting QB Mark Sanchez, who quite frankly has played himself out of a job,  The Washington Washington Football Team have made it clear that Robert Griffin III will start on Monday Night against Philadelphia despite “concerns” by the team surgeon.  Coach Mike Shanahan would not elaborate on what those concerns were, but I’m willing to bet that the idea of Griffin starting an NFL game without the benefit of any on-field football action in “real time”.

Hard to remember the last time a QB attempted such a feat, and with RG – 3 determined to start no matter what, it may be part of the reason the Washington Football Team kept 4 QBs.  The decision begs the question of whether the Washington Football Team have full confidence in Griffin’s recovery, or whether it’s a move that they feel would bring some trade value if other teams might be interested in White, who shined during the preseason.

In Dallas, after big changes defensively and among the coaches, the Cowboys are looking to make some noise in 2013.  With star players DE DeMaecus Ware and RB Demarco Murray back healthy for the new season, and CB Mo Claiborne ready to go, this could be a banner season in Big D if the Boyz can finally put it all together.  Dallas will host the New York Giants on Sunday night in a crucial NFC East matchup.
