KISS – FM congratulates Petersburg native Ricky Hunley, who was recently named the No. 1 football player in University of Arizona history. Hunley led the Wildcats in career tackles as an All-American Linebacker from 1980 – 1983 before becoming the school’s highest-ever NFL draft pick at No. 7 in 1983. His stellar performance at Arizona also led Ricky to be inducted into the prestigious College Football Hall Of Fame.

Hunley also led the Petersburg High School Crimson Wave to the AAA State Championship in 1979, where he was All-State, and led the Denver Broncos defense into two Super Bowls during his NFL career. He has remained in the league coaching over the last few years, and has held college coaching positions at Arizona and Missouri. Hunley’s little brother Lamonte, who also starred at Arizona and played in the NFL, was also named to the university’s Top 50 players. Well-deserved honors for both 804 representatives.
