The NFL Preseason continued with it’s Monday night with the Washington Redskins, who just broke training camp in Richmond, defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 24 – 13. Pittsburgh represents the league’s most respected franchise with 6 Super Bowl titles, but hardly resembled that era last night in DC. The Redskins starting QB Kirk Cousins played fairly well before tweaking an ankle and being replaced by Rex Grossman as Robert Griffin III will sit out the entire preseason as a precaution, although he says he’s ready to go. R G – 3 and Washington Coach Mike Shanahan have tried to squash any appearance that the two are not in sync or on the same page as to whether or not Griffin will play and even start the regular season.
On Sunday, the Indianapolis Colts defeated the New York Giants, joining other weekend winners like the Arizona Cardinals, who beat the Cowboys, Richmond’s Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks clobbered the Denver Broncos, and the defending world champion Baltimore Ravens came back to defeat Atlanta. Also among the winners this past weekend, the Eagles, Bears, Browns, Jets, Patriots, Texans, Packers, Bills, and yes, even the Saints came marching in. Today is a CUT day around the NFL, so a lot of those playing tonight will not be around tomorrow. That’s why they call it the N F L………” Not For Long “.
