The 2013 NBA Finals will probably now go down to the wire because the Miami Heat’s more than decisive win over San Antonio in Game 2 allows for two different perspectives.  One, the defending champs’ backs were against the wall, they responded to the challenge by overwhelming their opponent and romping their way to a 103 – 84 victory at home to even the championship series at one game apiece.

OR, surely we all knew the Heat wouldn’t surrender two games at home and head off to San Antonio down 2 – Zip.  So the Spurs were clearly in neutral  on Sunday, not saying they weren’t playing hard, not trying to win, but let’s just say they were conserving some gasoline for the three, count ’em, three consecutive home games coming up in San Antonio.  Obviously, the Spurs feel they have the team that can win three straight games in their arena against the defending world champions.

For that to happen, they cannot allow another all-around brilliant performance, not just from MVP LaBron James, but ALL of the Heat, including the role players of the bench.  Miami appears to be moving away from Dwayne Wade at crunch time as the veteran All-Star continues to struggle with injuries, but Mario Chalmers stepped up his game on Sunday, outplaying Tony Parker and sparking the Heat to a win they absolutely HAD to have.  Game 3 is tonight at the Alamo……
