He was a star at the University of Florida, he was an All-American football player, and as a quarterback, Tim Tebow won the Heismann Trpphy. Since he was drafted in 2010 by the Denver Broncos, he’s been both a media darling and a locker room curse for teams who have him on the rostaer. On Monday, after just one season in New York, the Jets decided to give up on whatever idea they had for Tebow when they lured him to the Big Apple.

The Jets selected West Virginia QB Geno Smith in the 2nd round of the NFL Draft last weekend, which meant that either Tebow or team starter Mark Sanchez were on the move. Seems that coaches are fascinated with Tebow’s skill set and truly believe he’s a great football player, but the fascination turns quickly into controversy as Tebow’s on-field production just doesn’t meet current NFL requirements. He led Denver to a playoff win in 2010, but has been spiraling ever since.

Whether Tebow lands with another team is uncertain, given all the controversy and media pressure that comes with adding him to the roster. When Tebow signed with the Jets, the media presence was so intense it looked like Media Day at the Super Bowl, And one year later……done.
