Pastor Rick Warren of the Sattleback Church in Lake Forest, California has taken to Twitter to discuss how his son purchased a gun on the internet before he committed suicide. Nationally known evangelical leader and best selling author Warren tweeted Thursday “Someone on the Internet sold Matthew an unregistered gun. I pray he seeks God’s forgiveness. I forgive him.” Matthew Warren, 27, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his home in Mission Viejo, California last Friday. Orange County police had been trying to figure out how Warren got the gun.
Warren delivered an emotional statement to his church on Saturday as he paid tribute to his youngest child Matthew. The elder Warren said Matthew had challenges with “mental illness his whole life.” Warren has two adult children, as well as, four grandchildren.
