Actor Wesley Snipes, 50, is a free man. Snipes was released from federal prison where he was sentenced to three years on tax charges. Snipes was sent to prison in 2010 for refusal to pay his 1999, 2000 and 2001 tax returns. However, Snipes was acquitted on felony tax fraud and conspiracy charges.  According to CNN, Snipes will be housed at a supervised residential location in New York City which will end on July 19, 2013.

Snipes tried to appeal his case to the U.S. Supreme Court in June 2011 but the high court refused to hear an appeal of his sentence. Snipes felt the punishment was rather harsh for a misdemeanor conviction.

Snipes starred in several movies from comedy to action “Blade”, “White Men Can’t Jump” and “Waiting to Exhale”. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Snipes had been serving time in Pennsylvania.
