Round 3 of the 2013 CIAA Tournament in Charlotte has left the 804 with only one team left standing as the Women of Virginia Union University prep for tomorrow’s semifinal vs the Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State.  The Women’s Final Four also includes the ladies of  Elizabeth CityState  &  Shaw University this weekend, and VUU is all that’s left representing VA as the Panther Men were beaten by Winston-Salem State 74 – 64 on Thursday in the quarterfinals.  Virginia State’s Men did get their first tournament win in years, but the ride was short-lived as VSU was bounced from the tournament on Wednesday along with the Lady Trojans.

Here in the Capital City last night, the University of Richmond, stuck in the middle of the Atlantic-10 pack as the regular season dwindles, the Spiders defeated George Washington University at the Robins Center, while the VCU Rams focus in on Saturday night’s BIG game at the Siegal Center against 20th-ranked Butler.

In the MEAC, the Spartans of Norfolk State University are on a hot buttered roll heading into the final weeks of the regular season, having won twelve straight and they remain undefeated in league play with three games left to play.
