KISS – FM joins music lovers around the world in saluting the life and the musical legacy of Jamaica’s Reggae Ambassador, Robert Nesta Marley, on what would have been his 73rd birthday today, February 6th. Bob Marley & the Wailers took Reggae music around the world from the tiny island of Jamaica and made it extremely popular in the United States & Great Britain.
Marley’s band, the Wailers continue to perform his music and still tour the States yearly, some 32 years after his death in 1981. His wife Rita Marley also went on to record reggae music for many years, while sons Ziggy and Damien have both enjoyed international success as well. While in Jamaica recently, I had the chance to visit the Official Bob Marley Store, a real treat and a must-do if you’re a Reggae music lover and fan of Bob Marley & the Wailers.
Also celebrating birthdays today, songstress Natalie Cole, daughter of the late great Nat King Cole, turns 63 this evening, while actor / director Robert Townsend is 56 today as well. Veteran TV News Anchor Tom Brokaw celebrates his 73rd today, and Kim Kardashian’s ex, NBA star Kris Humphries turns 28 on this Wednesday, February 6th, 2013……
