Plenty of College Hoops in and around the 804 tonight as the VCU Rams and the Richmond Spiders both open play in the Atlantic 10 Conference this evening, and the Panthers of Virginia Union also have a CIAA date in the Capital City tonight against the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University. Union’s game will take place on the campus at Barco-Stevens Gymnasium.

For VCU, a historic night as the Rams play their first ever conference game as the newest member of the Atlantic 10. Their opponent is the University of Dayton, where Rams’ Head Coach Shaka Smart was a former assistant coach with the Flyers. VCU is currently riding a 9-game win streak, and have won six straight at the Siegal Center. The Rams jumped into the Coaches Top 25 poll earlier this week at No. 24.

Across town at the Robins Center, the Umiversity of Richmond, also Atlantic 10 members, will open league play against Rhode Island tonight. The Spiders are 10 – 5 coming off a home win over Air Force and have a game coming up with 14th-ranked Butler before their Capital City showdown with VCU on January 24th.
