  • Charniele Herring is a longtime leader and 22 year resident of the West End of Alexandria. She serves as the Democratic Whip in the Virginia House of Delegates where she represents Alexandria City and the 46th House District. Herring has worked to protect affordable housing, expanded opportunities for small businesses, and has twice been named Legislative Hero by the League of Conservation Voters. She was named 2009 Rookie of the Year by the Virginia Education Association. In 2011 Delegate Herring successfully introduced legislation to eliminate predatory lending in the Bail Bond Industry, curb underage drinking, and protect victims by expanding the effectiveness of emergency protective orders. As a former President of the West End Business Association, she understands the need to work with business and community leaders to keep the Commonwealth moving forward.
