Radio – One and KISS – FM congratulates one of our own on a job well done. All-Star Pitcher Justin Verlander, a native of Goochland and graduate of Old Dominion University, has earned the honor of being the Detroit Tigers’ starting pitcher for Game 1 of the 2012 World Series, which opens tonight in San Francisco against the Giants, who executed an amazing comeback in the NLCS.

Verlander has won all three of his postseason appearances in the 2012 playoffs, two against the Oakland A’s and one in the Tigers’ sweep of the New York Yankees. This is a culmination of years of practice, patience, and perseverance and surely for anyone who’s followed Justin’s career from college to the major leagues, this is not an unexpected feat. For a pitcher of Verlander’s caliber, this is almost destiny. Congratulations and good luck from your home state (VA), town (Manakin), and your county (Goochland). Go Tigers!
