Russell’s father Harrison Wilson III died on June 9, 2010, one day after Russell was picked by the Colorado Rockies in the Major League Baseball draft. This pivotal moment in his personal life and career encouraged him to hold onto the values his father instilled in him about having great perspective and even stronger purpose in life.
