The NFL kicks off it’s 2012 season tonight in New Jersey as the Dallas Cowboys visit the defending world champion New York Giants in a game that should shape the NFC East race for the upcoming year as the winner will likely be chasing the loser the rest of the way. Which makes this a very interesting game. It’s a well known fact that the Giants have lost a lot of key players and some of the mainstay players who remain are injured or not operating at full strength.

That is good news for the Cowboys, who but for one catch here or one first down there, would have been headed to the playoffs instead of the G-Men. Dallas also had coaching issues last season and as a fan, I will be closely watching that aspect of the game because to me, that’s where the Cowboys are suffering, on the sidelines. For Dallas to win in New York, I believe they need a strong running game and a big day from “supposed’ star receiver Dez Bryant.

In Bryant’s short life with the Cowboys, his headlines have been more about his off the field issues than anything he was doing on the field. That MUST change this season or Jerry Jones should move forward because so far Bryant has not brought that excitement to the team that everyone expected when Dallas moved heaven & earth to get him. Bryant MUST show up and play this season if the Cowboys are to have any success, and if he has an average year, they should consider him a bust.
