The USA Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams both came away from London’s 2012 Summer Olympic Games with Gold Medals, and to be frank, anything less would have been considered a gigantic failure. You see, we OWN this game, we ARE this game, and the Olympics are the perfect venue to trumpet the news to the rest of the world. The 2012 edition of America’s “Dream Team” wasn’t as big as other years, but what they lacked in size was balanced by the speed and tenacity of a team led by basketball royalty like NBA MVP LaBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Durant. The USA Men rolled over Spain to clain the Olympic crown in Sunday’s Gold Medal game.
The USA women’s basketball team completed an undefeated run through the Olympic field and defeated France in the Gold Medal game. Tina Charles and Diana Taurasi led the US ladies to victory, and although the Americans never really were threatened throughout the Summer Games, they never took one game or one opponent for granted and executed their game plan to perfection every time they took the court. Kudos to our USA Women’s Olympic Champion basketball team!
