Jill Scott’s latest single is called “Blessed”, and if you were fortunate enough to hold a ticket to the Sunday matinee’ at the Hampton Jazz Festival, that is exactly how you felt when the concert ended, truly BLESSED. OMG! Jill, Kem, Be Be Winans, AND Dave Koz? All on one show? This was a concert to remember for the regulars who attend as Jill Scott (with new short haircut) simply put it down. She was funny, she was powerful, she was girly, she was strong, she was entertaining, she was stunning. Ok, let’s just say Jill was Jill, and Hampton loved every minute of it.

What can you say about Kem that hasn’t been said a thousand times.  This guy was phenaminal on Sunday afternoon. From the moment he took the stage, it was hit after hit after hit, and his entourage was incredibly talented as well.   My third Kem experience, and every time it gets even better.  He had them at hello with “Share My Love”, “Find Your Way”, and his current single “You’re On My Mind”.   The sellout crowd, which was 75% women, never left the arena while Kem performed, no movement whatsoever. Can you say “captivated” boys & girls? Wow!

Anyone who’s ever seen saxophonist Dave Koz perform knows he’s entertaining, energetic, and blows the heck out of a horn, no matter what size it is. Sunday afternoon in Hampton was no different as Koz provided the jazzy set of the day with double pleasure as he was joined by gospel music star BeBe Winans, who is currently touring with Koz, performing tracks they have collaborated on. What a treat! BeBe certainly knows how to set off a sellout audience on a Sunday, and trust me, there were some “happy feet” in the Hampton Coliseum during this set. Another great performance on a great day for music in the 757.
