A House committee has voted to cite US Attorney General Eric Holder for contempt of Congress in an unprecedented move, led by Republicans, who voted along party lines 23 – 17 in favor of the decision in the investigation of a Mexican gun-running operation called “Fast & Furious” that went bad. The move has caused much tension on Capitol Hill as the commentary on the issue has become more heated throughout the day.

President Obama invoked Executive Privelege in regard to documents the committee wanted to see, denying them access and leading House Speaker John Boehner to make assertions that the move means perhaps the President was also in on whatever the committee assumes the Justice Department is unwilling to reveal.   Most view the decision as the latest Republican effort to embarass the President and his administration, which includes Holder, who according to Democrats involved in the proceedings, was totally disrespected during his nine appearances before the committee.
