DMV 2 GO is coming to “Chesterfield County Community Outreach Day” on Thursday, June 14, 2012, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. The Department of Motor Vehicles will park on site at First Baptist Church Centralia 2920 Kingsdale Road, Richmond, Virginia 23237.

On Thursday June 14, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles’ mobile customer service center will be on site at First Baptist Church Centralia. The DMV service center will  provide ID cards for adults and children, as well as, other transactions. Adults ID cards are $10 and children are $5. All persons need to bring two forms of identification including a birth certificate, expired driver’s license, passport, a Virginia DMV issued driver’s license or an ID card expired for not more than five years.

Governor Bob McDonnell has signed tw0 voter ID bills, SB1 and HB9 into law effective July 1, 2012.

Virginia’s Voter ID law has been in place since 2000. This legislation only deals with individuals who do not bring an approved form of ID with them to the polls when voting.

Under this legislation and existing law, the following are acceptable forms of ID for voting:

  • Virginia voter registration card
  • Social Security card
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license
  • Any other identification card issued by an agency of the Commonwealth, one of its political subdivisions, or the United States
  • Any valid student identification card issued by a Virginia institution of higher education
  • A valid identification card issued by an employer containing a photograph of the voter
  • A copy of a current utility bill
  • A copy of a bank statement
  • A government check
  • A paycheck that shows the name and address of the voter.

The Rolling for Freedom project will assist with voter registration, restoration of rights for ex-offenders and voter empowerment from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Those eligible to start the process for restoration of rights must be off of probation and have paid all fines and restitution. Please bring your sentencing papers to Community Outreach day.
