A receptive and supportive audience at Petersburg High School on Monday night as the school board officials, faculty, students, parents and fans came out to honor the Crimson Wave’s 2011-2012 basketball team, which won the Central District and Regional titles before coming up short in the State Championship game against Hampton.

As an alumnus, and a fan, I was priveleged to host the event and celebrate with a great group of kids who went from a season of uncertainty to accomplishing some major things under a new head coach in Rick Hite. Congratulations to the guys, and to Player of the Year Frank Mason, who was also named All-State just this past weekend. Mason was the Metro Player of the Year as well.

Thanks to Dr. Alvera Parrish, Superintendent of Schools, Bill Lawson III, Athletic Director, and Alicia Miller, Principal of Petersburg High School.    And a shout out to the late Terry Sissisky, who was present in spirit!    The pleasure was indeed all mine…….
