The 2012 NFL Draft begins on Thursday in New York, and there is little suspense about the first two picks in this year’s draft.   It’s a forgone conclusion that the Indianapolis Colts will select Stanford QB Andrew Luck, who would have probably been the top pick last year had he decided to come out, and of course, no secret the Washington Washington Football Team gave up a truckload of potential in first round draft picks, but they feel Baylor QB Robert Griffin, III is worth the risk atNo. 2.

After those two, the Minnesota Vikings will pick third, and since the Vikes need a little bit of everything, they will probably opt for the best player on the board, and most insiders believe that to be Southern Cal OT Matt Kalil, who’s certainly ready to play on the next level.   Some are speculating that Minnesota may opt to trade down to pick up more selections.

Seems to be slim pickins’ among Virginia players expected to be drafted this year with Virginia Tech RB David Wilson projected to be the first state product to be taken off the board on Thursday.   Wilson, who’s leaving the Hokies early is considered to be one of the top 5 RBs in the 2012 draft.   Meanwhile, in Dallas, Mark Columbo, recently cut, signed a deal so he could retire as a Cowboy.   He had been a mainstay on the Dallas offensive line for several seasons.
