Late singer Whitney Houston may be gone, but fans can still look forward to her final big-screen performance.

A full trailer for “Sparkle,” a remake of the 1976 movie of the same title in which the music legend stars and acted as executive producer, has just been released.

The period musical follows singer Sparkle Williams (Jordin Sparks) and her two sisters (Carmen Ejojo and Tika Sumpter), who rise to fame after forming a Harlem-based girl group, only to deal with fallout from drug addiction.

Houston plays the trio’s mother, sings in the movie and contributed new music to its soundtrack. Houston completed filming the role three months before she died on February 11 from accidental drowning and the effects of heart disease and cocaine use.

Sparkle, which also costars Singer Cee-Lo Green and Comedian Mike Epps, hits theaters August 17.
