Congressman Bobby Ruch, D-Illinois, was escorted from the House floor at the Capitol after he removed his suit jacket, revealing a hoodie, which he wore to pay tribute to the slain Florida teenager Trayvon Martin. Wearing a hat or a hood is of course against House rules and Rush was fully aware of that while presiding officer Gregg Harper, R-Mississippi, repeatedly banged his gavel asking Rush to leave the floor.

It was truly a dramatic moment on the House floor, as Rush donned the hoodie while saying “Just because someone wears a hoodie does not make them a hoodlum”. He was then approached by an officer from the Sargeant-At-Arms office, who escorted Ruch out of the chamber.
