Bill Rancic, husband of E! News Host Giuliana Rancic, updated reporters about his wife’s condition on Wednesday. “Her surgery lasted about four hours and the doctors were very pleased with the result,” he said. “She had a little bit of pain through the night but is feeling much better this morning and was cracking jokes.”

Giuliana, 37, first announced on “The Today Show” on December 5 that she was going to undergo a double mastectomy as part of her breast cancer treatment. She appeared on the talk show with her husband, Bill, and said she decided to on the procedure after the lumpectomies she previously had did not effectively eliminate the cancer. Rancic first made her cancer diagnosis public on October 5.

Giuliana Rancic had her own message for fans on December 14, telling E! News, “I want to thank all the viewers and fans for their support and prayers. The tweets and notes have not gone unnoticed. I am very grateful.”

She admitted on December 12 that she had some fears about the recovery process. “I’m scared of waking up and the pain. I do hear it’s a painful recovery, so I worry about that,” Giuliana Rancic said.

“My breasts have never defined me – and now they never will,” she said.

Giuliana (maiden name DePandi) married Bill Rancic, the winner of the first season of “The Apprentice,” in 2007. They have starred in their own reality show, “Giuliana & Bill” since 2009.
