Welcome back to CNN, Roland Martin.
CNN has officially lifted its suspension of commentator/contributor Roland Martin, after a month. The suspension came after Martin tweeted what some considered to be anti-gay comments during the Super Bowl.
Martin posted a message that said, “If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham’s H&M underwear ad, smack the ish out of him!”
He later apologized, stating he was mocking soccer, which Beckham is popularly known for, and that he was not referring to sexuality or homosexuals. However, after severe and constant criticism from individuals and groups, especially the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), Martin was suspended by CNN. CNN released a statement saying, “Language that demeans is inconsistent with the values and culture of our organization, and is not tolerated.”
Martin has been regularly contributing to CNN since 2007.
