Rapper Coolio was arrested on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in court on a traffic ticket nearly two years ago.
Coolio, born Artis Leon Ivey Jr., was a passenger in a vehicle officers stopped early Friday morning in Las Vegas, according to police.
Coolio’s outstanding warrant charged him with failure to appear on an illegal stop and driving without a license summons issued in June 2010.
He was freed later in the day.
Coolio is a musician, actor and record producer best known for the song “Gangsta’s Paradise.”
Ironically, Coolio’s eldest son has been imprisoned at the same facility since November 2011 after he and a female prostitute were arrested for robbing a man at gunpoint.
Coolio’s son has since been detained on various charges, including grand larceny, robbery with a deadly weapon and first degree kidnapping. He is due to face a judge on Monday, according to TMZ.
